No operator pays us to rank higher. The order on this page comes from two numbers: the average rating and how many guests actually left a review. A flawless score from three people tells you less than a 4.7 from two thousand, so a tour needs a real body of reviews before it reaches the top of the comparison above.
The bigger decision usually isn't which company to book, it's which format fits your evening. Here's how the three main styles compare.
Walking tours
The default for first-timers, and the best value. You cover the most haunted ground on foot, usually 60 to 90 minutes through the historic district and its graveyards. Wear comfortable shoes for the cobblestones, and bring a layer from October through March.
Carriage tours
Let a horse-drawn carriage do the walking. You stay seated for 40 to 50 minutes, which suits families with older kids and anyone with mobility concerns. The trade-off is distance, since you can't get as close to the haunted sites as you can on foot.
Pub crawls and bar hops
Ghost stories between stops at historic taverns. This is the social option, built for groups and adults-only nights, and it usually runs two hours or more. Drinks aren't included in the ticket, but you'll have plenty of chances to buy a round.
Whichever format you pick, the comparison table above lists the current bookable options in that style, ranked by rating and review count, so you can reserve a proven choice rather than guess.
